David Zelenski is Senior Counsel at the Jaurigue Law Group (“JLG”). Prior to joining JLG, David worked at a boutique Los Angeles law firm, where he focused on class-wide litigation on behalf of employees under the California Labor Code and Fair Labor Standards Act. Since joining JLG, David has expanded his practice to include general-litigation and consumer-protection work.

David has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyers ‘Rising Star’ five years in a row. In addition, his law-school Note, Talent Agents, Personal Managers, and Their Conflicts in the New Hollywood, 76 S. Cal. L. Rev. 979 (2003), has been cited by the California Supreme Court in Marathon Entertainment, Inc. v. Blasi, 42 Cal. 4th 974 (2008).

Representative Cases

  • Successfully opposed a motion to compel arbitration, and convinced the court to issue an order correcting the defense’s improper contact of class members in a putative class action for unpaid overtime. Ultimately won approval of a class-wide settlement providing for the payment to class members of the full amount of unpaid overtime.
  • Defeated a motion to dismiss, motion for judgment on the pleadings, motion for summary judgment, and writ petition in a putative class action for unpaid overtime and improper wage statements. Was part of the team responsible for negotiating a $3.2 million class-wide settlement.
  • After a class-wide antitrust complaint had been dismissed, handled the plaintiffs’ appellate briefing. Upon reversal by the Ninth Circuit, was part of the team responsible for negotiating a $9.5 million class-wide settlement.
  • Appointed as class counsel in $6.6 and $7.5 million settlements of pharmacists’ and retail-employees’ wage-and-hour claims, respectively.
  • Appointed as class counsel in a $3.75 million settlement of claims brought under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act for allegedly improper robocalls.
